A Guide to Our 5 Rug Types

Hoping to bring home the perfect rug? Here, we break down the differences between our different rug styles and their respective materials, weights, and feel. Whether you’re looking for a decorative wall hanging, a durable everyday rug, or an extra-plush feel, see the best option for your space below!

Flatweave Rugs

Our flatweave rugs are made of 100% wool, woven into a cotton warp. The tight weave on these rugs makes them one of our most durable options, perfect for high-traffic areas. With the tightly woven threads, you can roll desk chairs over them with no problem, and pets’ nails are less likely to catch on them. Colored with natural dyes, these rugs are bold and naturally grounding. They’re also reversible!

Cotton/Wool Blend Flatweave Rugs

The cotton/wool blend rugs are similar to the wool flatweave rugs, but offer a slightly softer feel and lighter weight. They are a 70/30 blend of wool and cotton, woven into a cotton warp. Both our wool flatweave rugs and cotton/wool blend rugs make great runners, area rugs, and wall hangings.

Pile Rugs

Our pile rugs are our thickest, most plush rugs. They are 100% wool, woven into a cotton weft. They contain a *lot* of wool! This makes them very thick and heavy-weighted. They’re perfect for any place you want a plush feel under foot—like a seating area or at the foot of your bed.

Shag Rugs

The shag rugs are a fun, highly decorative option. They’re made of 100% wool, woven into a cotton weft. Because they have quite a loose weave, they’re not as dense as our other rugs, despite visually looking fuller—keep this in mind when considering the feel you’d like under foot. They make beautiful area rugs; we definitely recommend using a rug pad underneath for these pieces to keep them in place. They look great at the side of the bed and make excellent wall hangings too!

Cotton Mats

Lastly, we have our lightweight, 100% cotton rugs. These come in a standard bath mat size, as well as larger sizes for larger bathrooms. They do have a looser weave, so while we recommend keeping these away from rolling chairs, they’re great in children’s rooms or in front of the kitchen sink too—you can throw them in the wash at home!
