Building Your Tabletop Collection

By cate collins

Here at MINNA, we love a well-set table. The tabletop is a quick and low-commitment place to really change up the feel of your home. Plus, we love how a table setting can encourage more intentional mealtimes, whether we're eating alone or hosting. From tablecloths to runners, placemats to napkins, our retail manager Cate shows us how to build a beautiful table linen collection that can easily be rotated when we want to mix it up.

Building Your Tabletop Collection

Tablecloths

Let’s start with the base of the tabletop, the tablecloth. This is the piece that will likely remain the most stagnant part of your collection, so it’s important to choose something you really love that won’t feel stale too quickly. By keeping a neutral but still functional base, there’s more room to experiment with fun napkins, placemats, and runners.

The Meridian Tablecloth in Robin

Our Meridian Tablecloths in Robin + Heron always feel fresh on the tabletop because of the contrasting stripes on either side. The neutral colors and pattern make this tablecloth a perfect backdrop for layering your favorite runner or placemats for added texture and color. This piece is also incredibly versatile because it works just as well on the dining room table as a tablecloth as it does in the grass as a lightweight picnic blanket.

Runners + Placemats

When building a tabletop, runners and placemats feel like the pieces to swap out seasonally, or whenever your mood changes.

Panalito Runner in Gold

For the spring, or if your home is eternally “springy,” you can’t go wrong with our Panalito Runner. The style is reversible, so it feels like you’re getting two runners in one. A quick flip to the other side can give a fun, mid-season refresh, without having to purchase a new item. We love how these runners look layered with Panalito Placemats or any of our other tabletop families.

Albers Runner Oak

For a more neutral, fall or winter style, the Albers runner in Oak is a perfect layering piece. The warm brown and cream tones are perfectly balanced out by the stripe of sky blue that runs down the middle. If your style leans more cool-toned, you can really make the blue in this runner shine by picking out a cool-toned napkin like our Stacks Napkin - Horizon, but these napkins also come in a Stone colorway if you want your tabletop to remain neutral.

PANALITO PLACEMATS

Our Panalito Placemats are a MINNA favorite for a reason. With five colors to choose from, there’s one for every home. Like its runner companion, these placemats are reversible, which can help keep your tabletop feeling fresh without having to purchase any new textiles. Pick a set of matching colors if you want to keep a neutral tablescape or switch things up with a mixed set of colors.

Palm Placemats

Our Palm Placemats are our only round option. These work great for tabletops of all shapes and sizes. We also love to use this placemat as a charger at the center of the table for added dimension.

Napkins

We think napkins are the perfect place to experiment with color and patterns if you’re looking to shake things up with your tabletop. This is the easiest spot to mix and match and really have fun with your table settings.

Meridian Napkins

Our Meridian Napkins are a great stepping stone for building your dining collection. With 5 colors to choose from, you’re sure to find one to fit your home style. We love to mix these napkins with others from the Meridian family or other styles. Start off with a set of your favorite colorway, and build your collection from there, adding in pops of color + texture as you build your perfect napkin set.
