Comalapa is a small village between Lake Atitlán and Antigua. Here we work with a small family-run workshop of pedal loom weavers specializing in a traditional Guatemalan pattern called ‘panalito’ or little panel, creating intricate brocades.

We fell in love with this intricate pattern at first sight! The workshop lead and head artisan specializes in a reversible weave structure that allows for color play on the front and back. We use the same texture and weaving structure, but simplified the color palette to create monochromatic pieces that are reversible.
