In the Mixtec region of Oaxaca, where palm grows naturally, we've partnered with a family-run cooperative of palm weavers. There are five weavers in total who work in a hybrid weaving and sewing technique.

Made in a small rural village with little industry, this type of palm weaving is not native to this region and is typically done in Guerrero, in the north of Mexico. However, about 10-15 years ago the village was trained by a government program to make these baskets and develop the industry. After the program ran out of funding, the workshop closed down. This small group of weavers are working to keep that industry alive and thriving.
