The Panalito Placemat in Sage layers perfectly with our runners and napkins. Plus, it's reversible - one side is lighter and one side is darker! Panalito literally means 'little panel' and is based on a traditional textile technique found in Guatemala. Typically very colorful and bold, we simplified it so it could easily fit in with a variety of home decor styles. Handwoven by a family-run cooperative of weavers in Comalapa, Guatemala. 100% cotton.

Comalapa is a small village between Lake Atitlán and Antigua. Here we work with a small family-run workshop of pedal loom weavers specializing in a traditional Guatemalan pattern called ‘panalito’ or little panel, creating intricate brocades.

About these artisans

We fell in love with this intricate pattern at first sight! The workshop lead and head artisan specializes in a reversible weave structure that allows for color play on the front and back. We use the same texture and weaving structure, but simplified the color palette to create monochromatic pieces that are reversible.
